The best way to make sure you don’t get Covid, its variants or even the yearly flu is to Maximize your own immune system.
How do you do that?
Start with your Vitamin D levels. Most people in Oregon who are not supplementing with Vitamin D have blood levels 10-20 Ng/m. The official range is 30-100. When Covid first started, there was a study that showed people admitted to emergency rooms with Covid with Vitamin D levels over 30 mostly lived, those with levels below 30 often died. Vitamin D has a multi-layered effect on our bodies, and it is a huge boost to our own immune system.
Get your Vitamin D levels checked with a blood test. I like to see levels at 60 to 80. It needs to be an absorbable form of D. I find if we supplement all the fat-soluble vitamins together, and take with a little fat to help absorption, I really see blood levels go up. If you had your gall bladder removed, or have issues like gallstones, you need help absorbing by supplementing with bile or a bile stimulator.
Next is Vitamin C. Humans are one of the few mammals that don’t make their own C. Take 1000 to 2000 per day as maintenance. Herbal immune supplements are very helpful. If you haven’t been taking Zinc, take some zinc Picolinate 25mg which boosts your immune system. The healthier your diet and lifestyle is, the stronger your immune system. Fruits and vegetables have natural Vitamin C and bioflavonoids in them. Polyphenols are in all of them and each color adds a diverse range of polyphenols. So, Eat the Rainbow.

Keep your head and neck covered when it is cold and windy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, they say your Wei Qi, which is your overall immune system, can be compromised by getting chilled on the head or neck.
If you do start to get symptoms, boost your own immune system every 2 hours you’re awake by taking the herbs and Vitamin C. Also take Elderberry, which is known to shorten how long you are sick. Your gut is ground zero for your microbiome – the total combination of all the bacteria and viruses we coexist with. If you have problems there, you probably need help to get a stronger, better microbiome that supports your immune system.
These are all reasons why one person gets sick and another with similar exposure does not. It’s much easier to prevent getting sick than to fix it later. I do not recommend flu shots. They are a stress to your immune system and by the time they have the shot developed, the virus has transformed into another variant and the shot doesn’t work. That’s why there is always another variant of Covid – it is the nature of a virus to continually transmute.
